Società degli Alpinisti Tridentini (S.A.T.), Trentino's association of mountaineering has released open geo data of all Alpine tracks and trails. To do it, S.A.T. volunteers used official cartography from Trento municipality to make their own data. It was a civic collaboration, where civil servants' open attitude and shared knowledge were the keys to success. This achievement was made also thanks to a mapping party in June 2013 where a lot of people collaborated on the idea.

The Open Source Routing Machine (OSRM) is a C++ implementation of a high-performance routing engine for shortest paths in road networks. It combines sophisticated routing algorithms with the open and free road network data of the OpenStreetMap (OSM) project. Shortest path computation on a continental sized network can take up to several seconds if it is done without a so-called speedup-technique. OSRM is able to compute and output a shortest path between any origin and destination within a few miliseconds. Since it is designed with OpenStreetMap compatibility in mind, OSM data files can be easily imported. A demo installation is sponsored by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and previously by our friends at Geofabrik. OSRM is under active development.

Open Government Data (OGD) initiatives, and in particular the development of OGD portals, have proliferated since the mid-2000s both at central and local government levels in OECD and non OECD countries. Understanding the preconditions that enable the efficient and effective implementation of these initiatives is essential for achieving their overall objectives. This is especially true in terms of the role played by OGD in relation to Open Government policies in general.

RDB2RDF systems contain three main elements: sources(database), target(ontologies), and mappings. Once the mappings have been specified, users can exploit the systems, either by executing batch upgrade or posing SPARQL queries.
